Hello and welcome to ELSKA Wellness.
MA Counselling, CCC#10008659, RCC#21096
JEHANE JOHNSON
I bring over 20 years of professional experience as a certified counsellor, coach and teacher helping individuals and families to lead happier and more meaningful lives.
My training and experience in all three areas, as well as an instructor of yoga, dance and mindfulness means you benefit from a unique, integrated approach to greater wellness. You will discover creative ways to achieve what you want in your life.
I am invested in the holistic wellbeing of others and care about your unique world view and your physical, mental, social and spiritual health. You will gain a greater understanding of your brain-body connection as you explore the link between your thoughts, feelings and emotions.
I am committed to equity and have experience working with a variety of cultures internationally and with Indigenous communities in Canada.
ELSKA is a word from my Icelandic heritage that has special significance to me. Its meaning, from Old Norse, is “to love, bring up with care and nourish.” This is a foundation for how I live my life and lead my professional practice.

Counselling Approach
I use a combination of different counselling approaches to help you with life’s challenges:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT is a practical approach that helps clients understand the relationship between their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Assignments may be given to clients to try out in between sessions which help in making changes.
Person-Centered Therapy: When experiencing person-centered therapy, clients feel sincerity, trust and acceptance and a motivation to realize their potential.
Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT): SFBT is a short-term model that focusses on the positive and present moment, finding solutions and utilizing the client’s strengths.
Mindfulness: Integrating mindfulness practices, clients learn to pay attention to the present moment without judgement and apply this to life’s challenges.
