approaches
solution-focussed
What are some ways you can make this happen for yourself?
Looking at your future, your goals and solutions. Focusing on the positive rather than past problems that brought you to counselling. Using your strengths to solve problems. These are some approaches of solution focused coaching and counselling can be very helpful in moving you forward.
Person Centered
How often in your day to day life do you truly feel listened to without judgement?
Person-Centered Therapy involves creating a space where you lead the conversation and I help facilitate that for you. In this way, you are listened to whole-heartedly, with empathy and non-judgement as I acknowledge your experiences and guide you through a process of self discovery.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Do your thoughts get in the way of your success in life?
CBT focuses on present issues and is based on the idea that your patterns of thinking and feeling affect your behaviours. You will examine these patterns and learn to respond to difficult situations in new and positive ways.
mindfulness
What do you notice about how your body feels in this moment?
Mindfulness involves being aware of your physical, mental, and emotional condition in the present moment, without becoming judgmental. Learning to accept the range of thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations and not be influenced or controlled by them can be helpful in managing stress and finding peace with yourself and others.
nature based
Think of a past outdoor experience that you enjoyed. What do you notice?
Step outside. Go for a walk. Be in nature. Look out your window or at images of the natural world. Did you know that all of these activities have the capacity to decrease our stress hormones and activate our parasympathetic nervous systems, resulting in physical responses such as decreased heart rate and breathing and greater levels of energy. Nature-based or eco-therapy involves our reciprocal relationship with and connection to our natural world and has a positive effect on our physical and mental health.
